In their first meeting this season it was Cincinnati pulling out a 23-20 home victory over the Steelers. The Bengals overcame a 20-9 deficit in the fourth quarter with 14 straight points culminating in a Carson Palmer 4 yard touchdown pass to Andre Caldwell with just 14 seconds remaining. In that contest the Bengals were miserable for most of the game extending drives as the team could only convert on 3 of 12 on third downs. The Bengals are coming off a huge 17-7 win against the Baltimore Ravens last week as Baltimore was seeking revenge on a 17-14 victory by Cincinnati at Baltimore on October 11th. The Bengals defense has just been outstanding limiting their past four opponents to less than 100 yards rushing the football. A healthy Carson Palmer has made the difference with Cincinnati as the veteran quarterback has hit on 61% of his passes for 14 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The Bengals were hit with a major injury to their receiving corps as wide receiver Chris Henry will miss the season with a broken arm. Cedric Benson has given the Bengals a good running game with a 4.2 yards a carry average with 6 rushing touchdowns on the season. The Bengals have been a stingy defense this season putting tremendous pressure on opposing quarterbacks and limiting teams to an average of 16.9 points per game. Pittsburgh will be on a short week after defeating Denver soundly 28-10 on Monday Night Football. It was an outstanding defensive performance by the Steelers who allowed Denver just 27 yards rushing and 203 yards through the air and forced 3 turnovers. Running back Rashard Medenhall has run the ball very effectively with 5.7 yards per carry average in 100 carries this season. The 2nd year pro is coming off a 155 yards rushing performance on the good Denver Broncos defense last week on just 22 carries. Medenhall did not play in the teams first meeting back in week three. Medenhall was in the doghouse for not knowing the playbook and had just 7 carries total after the first three weeks of the season. After Willie Parker was ineffective the team turned to Medenhall who has since produced.
