The Saints spotted another early lead to an opponent and was able to storm back and win in their NFC South division game against Carolina last week. The Saints outscored the Panthers 24-3 in the second half to post a 30-20 win. It was another 300 yard passing performance for Drew Brees last week and he completed 24 of 35 for 330 yards with just 1 touchdown and 1 interception. New Orleans was just 1 of 5 in the red zone. The Saints hit on a long pass for a touchdown and returned a fumble for 6. New Orleans past three opponents has been able to move the ball on the ground against New Orleans with rushing performances of 137 yards or more on their defense. The Saints allowed 182 rushing yards to the good Carolina defense last week and the Rams lone chance in this game is getting a huge possibly a career best game from running back Stephen Davis. The Rams will be coming off their bye week after notching their first win of the season against the Detroit Lions 17-10. The Rams rushed 26 times for 150 yards during that victory. Despite the long season running back Steven Jackson has played very hard and fought for yardage during games. Jackson is coming off a 149 yards rushing performance against the Lions with 6.8 yards per play average. Prior to that Jackson rushed for 134 yards on 23 carries for a 5.8 yards per carry average. Quarterback Marc Bulger has struggled hitting on just 31 of his past 61 passes with no touchdowns and 3 interceptions over his past two games. The Rams are very thin at wide receiver and it has resulted in just 32% conversion percentage on third downs and that’s a big stat against the high-octane offense in the Saints. With the Rams converting on just 1 of every 3 third downs it will turn the ball over to the explosive Saints offense which could result in a huge margin of victory for New Orleans. St Louis allows opposing quarterbacks to complete 63.6% of their passes with an average of 11.7 yards per completion.
