In their meeting last season it was Colorado St winning a high scoring game 41-28. Colorado St moved the ball very effectively on the Rebels defense with 216 rushing yards and 294 passing for 510 total offensive yards. UNLV is 3-6 on the season and is in desperate need of 3 more wins to become bowl eligible. Rebels head coach Mike Sanford is in his 5th year with UNLV and has never made a bowl game. The Rebels are losers of 5 of their past 6 games and were pounded by the TCU Horned Frogs last week. The team failed to move the ball against a top tier defense but fortunately the Colorado St defense is very leaky and gives up major points on the season. Junior UNLV starting quarterback Omar Clayton hits on 61% of his passes with 10 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on the year. Clayton is a playmaker under center and can lead the team effectively against teams of average or below average defenses. Pass receiver Ryan Wolfe is Clayton’s favorite target with 66 catches with 10.3 yards per reception average. The senior has started in all 4 years with the program. Running back Channing Trotter leads the team with 99 carries with 4.4 yards a carry. UNLV has one of the worst defenses in the nation as the team allows 449 yards per game and an incredible 7.0 yards per play average. The Rebels opponents average just under 34 points per game on them. Colorado St is having a nightmare season sitting at 3-6 this season but are losers of 6 straight game. The team has been a mess on defense this season allowing their opponents 260 yards passing a game, which ranks 9th and last in the Mountain West Conference. Colorado St’s opponents average 31 points a game on their defense. UNLV is a very bad rush defense allowing 212 yards against their defense and the Rams have two running backs that can exploit the Rebels. Running back Leonard Mason averages 4.8 yards a carry on 126 carries with John Mosure averaging 4.6 yards a carry on 86 rushes this season. Quarterback senior Grant Stucker has had some good games this season on the road with 297 yards passing at Idaho and 372 yards at BYU. Stucker is capable of moving the ball on this very bad UNLV defense.
