The Breeders Cup Sprint is a 6-½ furlong event on the downhill turf course at Santa Anita. We see a lot of local horses entered here who have had success in this race but these locals do not have the class edge against the European invaders who have won and competed against much better quality of horse. Lord Shanakill has a 1st place finish in a Grade 1 event in France back on July 5th and prior to that had a third in a Grade 1 at Ascot in England. Lord Shanakill has worked well on the Santa Anita track in preparation for this race. Jim Crowly will ride and veteran Southern California trainer Richard Mandella trains.
