We are selecting here on the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic. It is scheduled for 1 1/8th mile on the Santa Anita main synthetic track surface. Post time is at 6:45PM Eastern Time and you can watch it on ESPN2. With our free pick for the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic we will play the #7 Music Note to win. Music Note is ridden by Rajiv Maragh and trained by Suroor Bin. Music Note has a great performance at the Beldame Grade 1 event back in October 3rd at Belmont Park posting a solid 103 Brisnet figure. Prior to that race was a 103 Brisnet speed rating in her win at the Grade 1 Balrina. In last years Breeders Cup Ladies Classic Music Note finished 3rd and 3 lengths behind the eventual winner Zenyatta. Zenyatta is not entered in this race and Music Note finished third with a 5 wide trip in that race. There are only 8 horses entered in the Ladies Classic this year so I expect no trip problems here. Music Note has three wins in four tries at 1 1/8th of a mile. She handled the synthetic surface last year and with a better trip and no Zenyatta will get the win in the Ladies Classic.
Our Exacta box will be #7 Music Note with the #2 Proviso. Proviso will be ridden by John Velasquez and is trained by Robert Frankel. Proviso is coming off a 1st place finish over the Keeneland synthetic track surface on October 11th in the Grade 1 Spinster Stakes. Proviso was brought down and placed 2nd in the Spinster. She put up an impressive 97 Brisnet speed figure in the Spinster and made up ground well throughout the stretch.
In our Trifecta box we will box #7 Music Note with #2 Proviso with #3 Cocoa Beach. Cocoa Beach is ridden by Richard Migliore and trained by Suroor Bin. She finished third last time out in the Grade 1 Lady Secret over this Santa Anita course and posting a 92 Brisnet number. She was a good second to Zenyatta in the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic a year ago right here at Santa Anita. In Cocoa Beach’s two races over the Santa Anita synthetics she has produced two in the money finishes.
