The Boise St Broncos make the long road trip in WAC conference play when they face the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in a college football game in prime time on Saturday night. Kick off time at Louisiana Tech is scheduled for 8PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by ESPN2. The LVSC college football odds makers have set the opening point spread in this game and the Boise St Broncos were opened as a 21-point favorite. The early money from the college football betting public has come in on the favorite, as the Boise St Broncos are currently a 21-½ point favorite. The over under is currently lined at 50 for the bettors to play into. College football money line gamblers can make a play on the favored Boise St Broncos at –1800 with the home underdog Louisiana Tech Bulldogs bringing back +1150 to pull of the major upset victory without the need for points on their side.
These two WAC conference foes met last season with Boise St pounding the Bulldogs 38-3. Boise St gained 464 yards on Louisiana Tech with 332 coming through the air. Louisiana Tech could only net 320 yards of offense on Boise St in that meeting. Boise St is a perfect 8-0 this season and has fallen behind mid major TCU Horned Frogs in the BCS standings. Only 1 mid major can earn a BCS bowl berth so Boise St needs to pile up points to earn votes form the pollsters. The Broncos are coming off a 45-7 win at home to San Jose St. The Broncos defense was good holding the Spartans to just 92 rushing yards and only 131 through the air. Prior to that home win the Broncos pounded a poor Hawaii team playing with a third string quarterback 54-9. In Boise St’s national televised game on the road against Tulsa they were not impressive winning just 28-21 as a 9-point road favorite. Tulsa was breaking in a first year starting quarterback and the Broncos failed to win by margin causing some to feel that the 2009 team may not be better than last year’s squad. Boise St is playing beneath their means in a very week WAC conference. They are the #1 defense in conference but only #4 on offense averaging 434 yards per game and 6.4 yards per play. Sophomore quarterback Kellen Moore has hit on 67% of his passes with 24 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. On the ground the team is led by Jeremy Avery who is averaging 5.7 yards per carry on the season. Louisiana Tech is 3-5 heading in this showdown with Boise St. The team is losers of two straight with both coming on the road at Utah St and Idaho. Their two wins at home in conference were against two weaklings beating Hawaii and New Mexico St. Louisiana Tech is 7th in the WAC in total offense generating 379 yards per game and 5.5 yards per play from scrimmage. Junior quarterback Ross Jenkins completes 59% of his passes with 11 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Jenkins has passed for 10 of his 11 touchdown passes in his last 3 games. On the ground senior running back Daniel Porter has rushed 124 times with a 5.2 yards per carry average.
