The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be searching for their first win of the season when they host the Green Bay Packers in an NFL game on Sunday afternoon. Green Bay will look to bounce back after falling to the Minnesota Vikings 38-26 last week. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers passed on 26 of 41 for 287 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions last week. Rodgers has hit on 65% of his passes this season with 14 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions but has been sacked 31 times. The Minnesota Vikings sacked Aaron Rodgers 6 times last week. Packers running back Ryan Grant continues his struggles with just 30 yards on 10 carries in the Vikings game. Grant is just averaging 4.1 yards per carry this season and this could be a huge reason why opposing defenses are pinning their ears on the Packers starting quarterback, as they don’t respect the running of Grant. The Packers faced three bad teams this season pounding the St Louis Rams 36-17 and the Cleveland Browns 31-3 on the road with a home win against Detroit 26-0. In those 3 games against the worst teams of the league the Packers put up over 400 yards. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 0-7 and will make yet another change at quarterback. Rookie Josh Freeman will be the third starting quarterback in 8 games for the hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Freeman has not seen much action on the field as he completed just 2 of 4 passes for 16 yards. Its worth noting that Josh Freeman did not look good in the preseason and had what many in the sports handicapping community referred to as the deer in the headlights look at quarterback. On the ground veteran running backs Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward combine for a 4.0 yards per carry from scrimmage. Defensively the Buccaneers are among the worst in the NFL allowing 29 points per game and 376 yards. The Buccaneers sport pair of the weakest safeties in the league as the opposing quarterback frequently throws over them for big plays.
Tony T’s Opinion: If this game makes my card I will be on the Green Bay Packers. Josh Freeman did not look very good in the preseason and I don’t believe is ready to make a start. Raheem Morris fired his offensive coordinator right before the season and it appears he has made bad decisions ever since going to his third quarterback after 7 games. Green Bay has pounded the true bottom teams on their schedule this season and Tampa Bay is at the bottom of this league.
