The Vikings and Packers met in Minnesota back on October 5th with the Minnesota Vikings winning 30-23 on Monday Night Football. A key stat in their first meeting was Minnesota getting a touchdown in three trips into the Packers red zone and was a perfect 3 of 3 in red zone attempts. The Packers were 0-2 in the red zone. Bret Favre was sharp hitting on 24 of 31 passes for 271 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in that contest. The Vikings were not able to run effectively against the Packers as the team rushed 30 times for a mere 63 yards and a 2.1 yards per carry average. The Vikings defense allowed 424 yards to the Packers in that contest. Packers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers hit on 26 of 37 for 384 yards two touchdowns and an interception. The Packers had success on the ground with 4.8 yards per carry average in 17 carries. The Vikings in that contest did a great job of protecting Bret Favre as he was sacked only once while Aaron Rodgers was sacked 8 times in defeat. Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen had 4 ½ sacks on Aaron Rodgers. Note that since that effort Jared Allen has only had 1 sack in his past three games. Minnesota’s offensive line was good as Green Bay had only 1 hit on Bret Favre. The Vikings are coming off a 27-17 loss at Pittsburgh last week. The Vikings gave up two touchdowns to the Steelers on defensive touchdown returns off turnovers. The Vikings defense was good limiting the Steelers in a hostile environment to just 4 of 12 on third downs and only allowed 153 passing yards. Favre was 34 of 51 for 334 yards with no touchdowns and 1 interception. The Packers are coming off a 31-3 pounding at Cleveland last week The Packers have won 2 straight since coming off their bye and outscoring their opponents 57-3 in those games. The Packers have not yielded more than 100 yards passing their past two games.

Tony T’s Opinion: With both defenses improving I would lean to an under play in this contest should it make my card. The Packers secondary is starting to find its good form it had in 2008 and under 47 ½ looks like an attractive play.
