The LA Lakers enters this game with some injury concerns. Forward-Center Pau Gasol has missed much of the preseason with a hamstring injury and he could miss the opening game against the Clippers according to Lakers head coach Phil Jackson. The Lakers are loaded with depth on their roster and have added a key addition to the lineup. Forward Ron Artest joins the team in the upcoming season giving LA a stopper on defense. In the move the Lakers had to say good-bye to Trevor Ariza. The Lakers allowed opponents to hit on 44.7% of their shots and that number could creep closer to 40%, which is very bad news to their opponents. LA Lakers averaged just under 107 points per game last year and were third in the league in scoring. The game will be the debut of Clippers first round pick Blake Griffin acquired through the draft. Baron Davis is still running the point for the LA Clippers. The Clippers were decimated with injuries last season and were the leagues worst shooting team in the league hitting on 44.1% of their shots. The Clippers struggled big time for offense last season and the team was only able to average 95 points per game. Griffin’s acquisition adds depth to the Clippers, as Chris Kaman will most likely be the 6th man off the bench. The point spread in their Lakers and Clippers last two meetings have hovered around 16 points.

Trend: The Under is 5-2 in their past 7 meetings.
