The Texas A&M Aggies enters this game with Arkansas with strong offensive numbers. But those numbers are bit deceiving as the team has faced bottom tiered competition in college football thus far in New Mexico, Utah St and UAB this season. One can say the Texas A&M Aggies will face their first test of the season. Arkansas has been torched defensively against their two high profile opponents giving up 52 to Georgia and last week 35 points to Alabama. Alabama gained 425 yards on Arkansas last week and then Georgia 530 yards the week prior. Razorbacks starting quarterback Ryan Mallet is big standing six foot seven inches and two hundred and thirty eight pounds. Mallet has not been accurate against the team’s two high profile opponents hitting on only 53% of his passes to Georgia and just 34% to Alabama last week. Mallet has not made mistakes throwing the football with just 1 interception on the season. On the ground senior running back Michael Smith has been effective averaging 6.8 yards per carry on 24 rushing attempts on the season. Smith had an impressive 5.1 yards per rush average against a fierce Alabama defense a week ago. Texas A&M starting quarterback Jerrod Johnson is dual threat quarterback. He already has 38 rushing attempts on the season. Johnson last season hit on 59% of his passes for 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Johnson has yet to throw an interception thus far in the Aggies games against inferior competition. Texas A&M was a bad rushing team in 2008 averaging just 2.9 yards per carry. A huge concern in this game is the fact Texas A&M has given up an average of 351 yards per game to three bad teams thus far in the season.
