The Buffalo Bills will be in search for a win as they hit the road for an AFC East contest against the injury bitten Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon. Kick off time in Miami is set for 4PM Eastern Time with regional coverage provided by CBS Television. The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the opening point spread in this game and the Miami Dolphins has opened as 1 ½ point favorites with the over under coming in at 38 ½. The early money has come in on the opening line underdog, as the Buffalo Bills are now the betting favorite at –2 ½. The line move was due to a season ending injury for Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington. NFL totals bettors will find the over under bet downward as the total is currently lined at 36.
The Miami Dolphins have lost starting quarterback Chad Pennington with a season ending shoulder injury. Second year pro Chad Henne will get the start in place of Pennington. Henne has a stronger arm and obviously lacks the experience of Pennington. Henne has hit on 10 of 19 passes this season for only 92 yards no touchdowns and a 1 interception that was returned for a touchdown. This injury may take some heat off of the Dolphins coaching staff after their 0-3 start, as the teams hopes for a post season are dashed with Pennington out for the season. Pennington lacks arm strength and Henne will give the Dolphins a vertical passing threat once he gets comfortable under center. With Pennington under center the Dolphins were third worse in the league with only 155 passing yards per game. The Dolphins may lean heavily on their running game as they are averaging 4.7 yards per carry on the ground. Ronnie Brown has 52 carries with 4.9 yards per carry average and Ricky Williams has 34 carries for 4.8 yards per carry average. The Buffalo Bills were poor offensively in their 27-7 loss against the New Orleans Saints. The Bills defense played well but were let down by an offense that had trouble generating points and Terrell Owens did not have a catch. Quarterback Trent Edwards is hitting on 61% of his passes with four touchdowns and two interceptions on the season. Buffalo may have success with their no huddle offense against Miami, as the Dolphins defense is last in the league giving up 14.7 yards per pass completion. Veteran running back Fred Jackson has done a good job of running the football this season averaging 4.8 yards per attempt on 61 carries on the season.
