Utah Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham had to field questions following the loss to Oregon last week about his starting quarterback Terrance Cain. Cain has not looked good under center and the signs were early in the teams 35-17 home win against Utah St to open the season. Cain does not look confident under center and threw a bad interception and could only convert 4 of 11 on third downs against a bad Utah St Aggies team. Then in week 2 the team struggled offensively in a 24-14 victory against San Jose St. Last week Cain completed only 48% of his passes against a bad passing defense in the Oregon Ducks in a 31-24 defeat. Terrance Cain passed for a touchdown but threw 2 critical interceptions in defeat. Utah defensively has improved with their rushing defense after allowing lowly Utah St to rush for 222 yards on 34 carries for an unbelievable 6.5 yards per carry average for the road team Utah St in that game. That defensive performance was a head scratcher. The Louisville Cardinals are coming off a disappointing 31-27 loss at Kentucky last week. The Cardinals were coming off a bye after beating Indiana St 30-10 in week 1. Junior quarterback Justin Burke has hit on only 54% of his passes on the season with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions after two games. The concern is the two picks and no touchdowns passes against Indiana St in week 1. On the ground the Louisville Cardinals are led by sophomore Victor Anderson who has rushed for 203 yards three touchdowns on 33 attempts for a 6.2 yards per carry average. On the defensive side of the ball the team only give up an average of 223 yards per game and forced turnovers against Kentucky last week.
