The Seattle Seahawks enter this game with the San Francisco 49ers off of a 28-0 win over the St Louis Rams. The Seahawks exploited the weak Rams defense to a tune of 446 total yards of offense. But this Sunday they will face a defense the polar opposite of the Rams and the 49ers defense is one that plays intense football and can get pressure on the passer. The Seahawks committed 3 turnovers last week and with that many against the 49ers they face a possible loss. Matt Hasselbeck showed no ill signs from last year’s injury as he went 25 of 36 for 279 yards and 3 touchdowns but 2 interceptions. The running game was going last week as the team behind 34 carries had 4.9 yards per carry average. Julious Jones who had 117 yards on just 19 carries led Seattle on the ground. The Seahawks defense was good last week limiting the Rams to no points and just 77 yards rushing. On the San Francisco side they did a good job of putting pressure on Kurt Warner last week and that’s the key to stopping explosive offensive attacks. The 49ers fate on defense will heavily depend on their pass rush. The big negative for the 49ers was their lack of success running the football as behind running backs Frank Gore and Glen Coffee the team rushed for only 21 yards on 25 attempts for a mere 0.8 yards per carry. Starting quarterback Shaun Hill was 18-31 for 209 yards last week with 1 touchdown and no interception but took 4 sacks. An interesting trend was the 49ers passing ten times and running only once on first down.
