The Oakland Raiders surprised many NFL pundits as the team was very competitive in their opening game on Monday Night Football falling to the San Diego Chargers 24-20. On the defensive side of the ball Oakland was able to limit the high-powered San Diego Chargers offensive to just 77 yards on the ground. The Raiders lost the game by crucial turnovers as the team committed three in defeat. The offensive line was impressive opening up holes for Raider running backs to run into. On the Kansas City side the team had a poor defensive showing against the Baltimore Ravens. In their 38-27 loss the Kansas City Chiefs defense allowed Baltimore to rush for 198 yards and pass for 303 yards giving the Ravens 501 total offensive performance. Brodie Croyle started in relief of injured Chiefs starting quarterback Matt Cassel and went 16-24 for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Cassel has a sprained MCL in his left knee and is questionable for the game against the AFC Western division rival Oakland Raiders.
