The Buffalo Bills will kick off the season with an AFC East division battle against the New England Patriots in ESPN’s Money Night Football. Kick off time in New England is scheduled for 7PM Eastern Time and ESPN will television. The LVSC NFL odds makers have set the opening point spread in this contest and the home team New England Patriots opened as 10 point favorites with the over under coming in at 46 ½. The early money from the NFL sports betting public has come in on the favored Patriots as New England is currently an 11-point favorite. The total has been bet by sports bettors early to the over as the over under is currently lined at 47 ½. NFL money line bettors can make an NFL bet on the favored New England Patriots at –750 with the underdog Buffalo Bills bringing back +550 to win without the aid of getting points.
The Terrell Owens era begins for Buffalo after the star receiver missed much of the preseason dealing with soreness in his toe. Buffalo fired offensive coordinator Turk Schonert after a poor offensive showing while running the no huddle offense during the preseason. Buffalo will continue with this offense under new coordinator Alex Van Pelt. The question here is will Trent Edward be afforded the time to wait for his vertical threats in Owens and Lee Evans get open or will he settle for the underneath low yardage throws. On the defensive side of the ball the Bills must put pressure on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady or they will get picked apart. Buffalo had a poor pass rush and their sack total was near the bottom of the league a year ago. Tom Brady will start for the Patriots after missing most of the season last year following major knee surgery. The quarterback will have all of his targets back to throw too that contributed to the Patriots 17-0 perfect regular season. Brady didn’t show ill effects from the injury but suffered a sore shoulder in a preseason game against the Washington Redskins as Albert Haynesworth put all of his 300 plus pounds on his extended shoulder. The Patriots will have a new look defense as gone are veterans Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel and Richard Seymoour.
