The Pacific Classic is the ninth race on the card and it’s for three year olds and upwards with a distance of 1 ¼ miles ran over the Del Mar synthetic surface. Post time is scheduled for 8:10PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by TVG. It’s a million dollar purse and the Pacific Classic has been designated as a Breeders Cup Classic win and youre in race. The morning line favorite is the five horse Colonel John at 5-2. Colonel John had notable wins during his three-year-old campaign in 2008 winning the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby and the Grade 1 Travers. He finished 6th in last years Breeders Cup Classic at 10-1 odds. Colonel John has been lightly raced as a four year old as the colt is making his second appearance in 2009.

Play 1 unit to win on #3 Rail Trip and #10 Einstein
Railtrip began his racing career late in the three-year-old season winning a Maiden race over Hollywood Park racetrack on November 7th of 2008. In eight lifetime starts the four year old gelding has six wins and two seconds. All of his races have been over synthetic racetracks and is making his debut over Del Mar’s synthetic surface. Ron Ellis trains and this talented horse is coming off a win at the Hollywood Gold Cup in July posting a 111 Beyer in his only race at a mile and a quarter. Jose Valdivia Jr rides again on Railtrip and has been this horse’s rider his entire career at the races. Railtrip loves to be near the lead and has holding power to finish. After a poor finish on a good turf surface in the Arlington Million last time out Einstein moves off the turf on to the synthetic track surface of Del Mar. The 7 year old has a win at this distance at the Santa Anita Handicap back in March. Julien Leparoux will ride and the jockey has ridden the colt to two Grade 1 victories.
Our Exacta Box will be #3 with #10 with #9 Tres Borrachos
Joe Talamo will ride Tres Borrachos and this four year old has put two solid races back to back. On the Hollywood Park synthetic surface he ran second to Rail Trip during the running of the Hollywood Gold Cup his last time out and it was a race where he put up a 106 Beyer. At this price I am going to include this horse while he has sported the best form of his racing career.

Our Trifecta Box will be #3 with #10 with #9 with #1 Informed
Tyler Baze will ride Informed and the 5 year old by Tiznow has performed well at Del Mar with two wins and two seconds in 4 starts at the track. He should get a good ground saving trip on the rail, which will set up a stretch run where he will figure in the exotics. Informed won last time out in the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap and is a horse for course angle here. Trained by Doug O’Neill the Baze/O’Neill trainer jockey combo has been in the money 7 out of 15 times over the current meet.

Heading into the Pacific Classic Rail Trip sports the best last race Beyer with a 111 in the Hollywood Gold Cup. Tres Borrachos sports the second best last race Beyer by posting a 106 in his second place finish to Rail Trip in the Hollywood Gold Cup. Global Hunter posted a 103 last time out in the Bing Crosby at Del Mar but that race was only contested at six furlongs. Global Hunter ran some double digit lengths behind winner Rail Trip in the Hollywood Gold Cup.
