2009 MTV Movie Awards Best Picture Odds and Entertainment Betting Preview

The entertainment odds have been set for the 2009 MTV Best Picture Movie Awards. The MTV Movie Awards are set to go off at 9PM Eastern Time on Sunday May 31st televised by MTV. The 2008 MTV best picture winner went to Transformers released by Paramount Pictures. Andy Samberg is the host this year and the MTV Movie Awards will originate from the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City, California. Action movies have performed very well in the Best Picture category in the past MTV Movie Awards for Best Picture.

The favorite in the betting for the MTV Movie Award Best Picture is The Dark Knight paying 3/ 2 odds. The Dark Knight earned over $1 billion dollars worldwide making it the 4th only motion picture to do so. The Dark Night is based upon the comic book super hero character Batman. The Dark Knight’s co-star Heath Ledger passed away on January 22nd, which was 6 months prior to The Dark Knight’s worldwide theatrical release. The movie saw expanded publicity following Ledger’s death and is the clear favorite for the MTV Movie Awards Best Picture for 2009. Given the movie’s action adventure theme it is hard to bet against The Dark Knight come Sunday for Best Picture.

Slumdog Millionare is a British film, which has grossed just under $400 million dollars at the box office. Slumdog Millionare won Best Picture in the 81st Academy Awards and is a longshot for the MTV Movie Award based on the plot and foreign cast members who are not familiar to the MTV movie going audience. Foreign films have performed poorly for the Best Picture in the past MTV Movie Awards.
